Strawberry Cheesecake Buns
Soft and fluffy buns filled with a delicious strawberry cheesecake filling. Yummy for a coffee time!
Ingredients
Dough:
- 380g flour
- 7g active dry yeast
- 50g sugar
- 65g soft butter
- 1egg + 1egg yolk
- pinch of salt
- 180ml warm milk
- vanilla
Strawberry filling:
- 400g strawberries
- 200g sugar
Cream cheese filling:
- 160g cream cheese
- 30g sugar
- vanilla
Egg wash:
- 1egg yolk
- 1tsp.milk
Instructions:
- Start by preparing the strawberry filling: Add strawberries and sugar to a pot and bring it to a boil.
- Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes or until a jam looks. Let it cool aside.
- Buns dough: Add all the ingredients into a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
- Knead for 10 minutes or until the dough has a smooth surface.
- Place the dough into a bowl, and proof for one hour or until it doubles in size.
- Meanwhile combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla into a bowl; Whisk it together. Keep it at room temperature.
- Once the dough has doubled, divide it into 12 equal pieces and roll it into a ball.
- Flatten each dough ball and use a round bottle tip to create an indention in the center of each bun.
- Fill centers with cream cheese and strawberry filling on the top.
- Let it proof for 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
- Brush it with egg wash.
- Bake it at 180 degrees C (356 degrees F).
- Sprinkle on icing sugar and top it with diced strawberries (Optional).
