Strawberry Cheesecake Buns



Soft and fluffy buns filled with a delicious strawberry cheesecake filling. Yummy for a coffee time!


Ingredients

Dough:

  • 380g flour
  • 7g active dry yeast
  • 50g sugar
  • 65g soft butter
  • 1egg + 1egg yolk
  • pinch of salt
  • 180ml warm milk
  • vanilla

Strawberry filling:

  • 400g strawberries
  • 200g sugar

Cream cheese filling:

  • 160g cream cheese
  • 30g sugar
  • vanilla

Egg wash: 

  • 1egg yolk 
  • 1tsp.milk


Instructions:

  1. Start by preparing the strawberry filling: Add strawberries and sugar to a pot and bring it to a boil.
  2. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes or until a jam looks. Let it cool aside.
  3. Buns dough: Add all the ingredients into a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Knead for 10 minutes or until the dough has a smooth surface.
  5. Place the dough into a bowl, and proof for one hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Meanwhile combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla into a bowl; Whisk it together. Keep it at room temperature.
  7. Once the dough has doubled, divide it into 12 equal pieces and roll it into a ball.
  8. Flatten each dough ball and use a round bottle tip to create an indention in the center of each bun.
  9. Fill centers with cream cheese and strawberry filling on the top.
  10. Let it proof for 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
  11. Brush it with egg wash.
  12. Bake it at 180 degrees C (356 degrees F).
  13. Sprinkle on icing sugar and top it with diced strawberries (Optional).
