Homemade Pepperoni Pizza
Pizza Dough:
- 500g flour (3 cups)
- 30ml olive oil (3 tbsp.)
- 10g dry yeast (1 tbsp.)
- 10g sugar (1 tbsp.)
- 8g salt (1 tsp.)
- 280ml warm water (1 1\2 cup)
This dough can make 4 medium pizzas
Pizza Sauce:
- 800ml tomato juice
- 2 tbsp. tomato paste
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1\2 onion
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 4 basil leaves
- 1 tbsp. dry thyme
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1\2 tsp. black pepper
Pizza toppings:
- 400g mozzarella cheese
- 50g black olives
Instructions
- Into a bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, olive oil, and salt. Gradually add warm water until a soft dough ball is formed.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it has a smooth surface and is elastic. Let proof for 1 hour.
- Meanwhile, prepare the pizza sauce by adding into a saucepan all the ingredients and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool aside.
- When the dough is ready, pat the dough into a greased pizza pan.
- Preheat the oven for 250°C (482°F).
- Top the crust with sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and black olives.
- Bake for 15 minutes, until the crust is brown and the cheese is fully melted.
