Homemade Pepperoni Pizza




Ingredients

Pizza Dough:

  • 500g flour (3 cups)
  • 30ml olive oil (3 tbsp.)
  • 10g dry yeast (1 tbsp.)
  • 10g sugar (1 tbsp.)
  • 8g salt (1 tsp.)
  • 280ml warm water (1 1\2 cup)

This dough can make 4 medium pizzas

Pizza Sauce:

  • 800ml tomato juice
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1\2 onion
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 1 tbsp. dry thyme
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1\2 tsp. black pepper

Pizza toppings:

  • 400g mozzarella cheese
  • 50g black olives


Instructions

  1. Into a bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, olive oil, and salt. Gradually add warm water until a soft dough ball is formed.
  2. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it has a smooth surface and is elastic. Let proof for 1 hour.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the pizza sauce by adding into a saucepan all the ingredients and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool aside.
  4. When the dough is ready, pat the dough into a greased pizza pan.
  5. Preheat the oven for 250°C (482°F).
  6. Top the crust with sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and black olives.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, until the crust is brown and the cheese is fully melted.
